DS ICO meets with Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Officials

Deputy Secretary for ICO Mr Edward Tunidau met with senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) on February 17th, 2015 at the Walu Bay Office.

The meeting was held in regards to the Civil Society Organisations’ (CSOs’) who are funded via the Coffee International to carry out the work in the communities. The Coffee International carries out various projects by providing funding on poverty alleviation and capacity building to target vulnerable communities in the field of health, water and sanitation, education support, child protection and NCDs’.

Mr Tunidau imparted ideas to the senior DFAT officials on how some Ministries are complementing the work they are doing and encouraged them to work with Government on these projects in order to avoid duplication. He advised the senior DFAT officials to liaise with the four (4) Divisional Commissioners on the accessibility of these projects on the ground.

The Deputy Secretary commended the work of DFAT on their initiatives on project management and administering projects on the ground. Mr Tunidau also informed the senior officials that liaison with CSOs’ is one of their Key Performance Indicators’.
