In 2011 the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) decided to participate in the Public Service Commission\’s Service Excellence Awards (SEA) programme. It was in this regard a committee was established to coordinate the respective departments and units and facilitate the applications of the programme.
In an effort to maximise on activities to instigate change, the Implementation Coordinating Office (ICO) also established an SEA committee with unit representatives; Corporate Service, Public Relations & Media, Monitoring & Evauation and Legislature.
The committee met regularly to discuss areas for improvement and identify policy and process needs for review and implementation to achieve Service Excellence. Training was also conducted for the staff to assist with the necessary implementations.
Efforts intensified in 2012 with the appointment of DS ICO, Mr Edward Tunidau, as the Chairman of the OPM SEA Committee and the OPM SEA Champion, Ms Amelia Komaisavai from ICO.
The collaborated efforts of all the staff saw OPM receiving the 2011 Service Excellence Recognition Award, 2012 Service Excellence Commitment Award and the 2013 and 2014 Service Excellence Achievement Awards. ICO & Legislature also scooped the Environment Achievement Award for 2012 while ICO has received the Energy Commitment Awards for 2013 and 2014.
The awards and efforts of the OPM staff are a testament of the Ministry\’s commitment to improving service delivery and achieving excellence in everything we do.
